Three different questions

Choose an approach before comparing characters

01

Carry a sound

Use a sound preference to seek a loose connection to your source name. Mandarin syllables and tones may differ from what you expect; listen to the complete result.

02

Express a quality

Open the optional details to choose qualities you value. A positive dictionary gloss is a starting point; the full name and its context still need checking.

03

Keep the whole name in view

Compare surname, given name and reading together. Select an option to keep its details while checking, practicing and previewing art.

Questions before you begin

A little context for your next step

Does my English name have one Chinese translation?

This tool does not provide an official translation. It suggests Chinese-style personal names from a bounded dataset. A sound-led transcription, a translated word meaning and a personal-name choice are different tasks; one output should not be treated as the only correct equivalent.

Which approach should I choose?

Choose sound if a connection to your source name matters most, meaning if the qualities you want to express matter more, or balanced to compare both. These preferences influence the shortlist; they do not promise a perfect sound match or an exact translation.

Can I enter a name written without Latin letters?

The form accepts supported Unicode letters, spaces, hyphens and apostrophes, within its length limit. Acceptance does not mean the service can reliably infer pronunciation in every language. Check the suggested Mandarin reading and ask a fluent speaker about your intended setting.

What should I do after choosing an option?

Keep the complete characters and pinyin together, read the warnings, then practice the pronunciation. Your selection can continue into the checker and art preview in the same browser tab. It is not a legal identity or a human-reviewed recommendation.
